How to Manage Page Roles on Your Facebook Page

Whether you are a business owner setting up a new Facebook Page or you manage a brand page on Facebook, there’ll be a time when you will need a team of people who can edit and publish content, look at information about your followers, engagements and more.

In this journal, you'll learn:

  • What is a Facebook Page admin?
  • Who can you make admin of your Facebook page?
  • How to add an admin in 4 simple steps.

What is a Facebook Page admin?

When you set up your Facebook Page, Facebook will have automatically assigned you as the Page admin. The admin role gives you access to the back-end of your Page, meaning you can change its settings, how it looks and add or remove content.

As the admin of your Facebook Page, you are the only person who can add new team members, including other admins.

Who can you make admin of your Facebook Page?

You can make anyone an admin of your Facebook Page (although we suggest a social media expert that you trust and not just some guy with a smartphone). However, there are a couple of rules:

  • The new admin must have an active Facebook Profile
  • They must be Friends with you on Facebook

There is no limit to the number of admin roles you can assign. Once you’ve made someone admin, they can add other admins, who can then add other admins themselves.

4 simple steps to add admin to Facebook Page

To begin, you will need access to your Facebook Page, plus the new admin’s email and Facebook profile name.

Step 1: From your News Feed, navigate to the left menu and click Pages

Step 2: In your Facebook Page, click Settings on the bottom left of the screen

Step 3:  Now click Page Roles in the left menu

Type the name or email address of your new admin into the box and select the person from the list that appears

Step 4: Select Editor and choose a role from the dropdown menu

In this case, choose Admin and click Add, then enter your password to confirm that you want to add your new admin.

Ta-da! You’ve added a new Admin to your Facebook Page.

The new Admin now has the same access to the page as you do. They can now help you manage the back-end of your Page, publish great content and provide you with some audience insight.
